“Romanesco” artichoke festival 2015
For lovers of artichokes from 10 to 12 April 2015 Ladispoli will hold the Artichoke Festival. You can taste a variety of local products, but the real star is the Roman artichoke , PGI product of a sweet and very pleasant variety. Exquisite product, the artichoke is recognized for his countless organoleptic and therapeutic properties. Famous is the local “Carciofo alla Giudea”, fried in a pan of hot oil where it opens like a flower.
Saturday April 11, Walk of the Imperial Forums
The guided tour, in the form of a walk, begins at the foot of the Capitol. Goes up the hill through the staircase built to a design by Michelangelo and decorated with statues of the Dioscuri. After listening the story of the buildings that overlook the square, the walk continues towards the picturesque lookout which presents the Roman Forum. It will descends right in front of the Curia and the churches of St. Joseph of the Carpenters and the Saints Luca and Martina arisen on Mamertine Prison and the Forum of Caesar. It runs along the Foro walking along Via dei Fori Imperiali to the Basilica of Maxentius and then move on to the Imperial Forums of Augustus, Nerva and Trajan, to arrive at the Coliseum. The tour will end at the foot of the Arch of Constantine .
Appointment: Via del Teatro Marcello, at the foot of the staircase of Aracoeli ( 15 min before the start of the visit ). Running Time: 120 minutes.
Sunday 12th april
Longing for green and outdoor sports ? The association biciebike.sherwood organizes a ride between the “Pratoni delle Valli” and the Aniene Park, pedaling through paths and green areas. The proposed route for this bike ride will wind from the center of Rome to the Aniene Park, along bike lanes and country roads . Appointment is in Piazzale Flaminio ( side Villa Borghese) at 9.30 am.
For those who do not love the outdoors and prefer to visit we propose “Montecitorio Open Door" the event that allows you to visit the headquarters of the Chamber of Deputies. The next edition of the event is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2015, with access from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm. In conjunction with the initiative a concert is held in Piazza Montecitorio by one of the military bands of the different bodies of the Armed Forces.
Tickets must be picked up (max 4 per person) at the info point located in via Uffici del Vicario, which opens at 9:30.
The visit starts from the entrance of Piazza Montecitorio, and, with the guidance of Parliamentary assistants, takes place along a route that touches the most famous and evocative places of parliamentary life: the classroom where the 630 deputies meet in plenary session , the great hall overlooking the Aula, called Transatlantic or Hall of Lost Steps, the majestic Bernini staircase leading to the upper floors, the large rooms on the second floor (room Aldo Moro, the Queen's Hall).
